Stage 5

A lighter day by TMB standards - about 4.5 hours on the balcony trail above Val Ferret. The path undulates through larch forest and open hillside, with the Italian side of Mont Blanc close enough to feel dramatic without a punishing climb.

You finish at Rifugio Bonatti, named after Walter Bonatti and set beneath the Grandes Jorasses. Dinner at the refuge is worth it if you have a spot.
